Archive 1998 – DJ at Trädgår’n

The restaurant “Trädgår’n” in Gothenburg burned to the ground and a new building was erected in 1998. The premiere May 23, showed a lavish facility that could hold around 1500 guests at once, unique of its kind in Sweden, with sound, light and laser. Pierre J was asked about a DJ residency, manage DJ-bookings, music profiling and recieved a contract for 3 months, but it became a partnership that lasted 14 years. The Trädgår’n Nightclub was open 22.00-05.00, 4-7 days a week the first year, and age to get in was 25 years for females and 27 years for males.

The music profile in general was based on commercial house and techno music. I recorded some clips with my videocamera as well as a full audio recording on the DAT.

Archive 1998 – NRJ Mixes Autumn

Another request from NRJ and this time one commercial break was enough, which gave 2 mixes. I was just back from a holiday trip to London and where I visited Notting Hill Carneval and saw Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley and Pete Heller perform DJ-sets. I think all of the songs in both these mixes was bought on vinyl in London during this trip.

Archive 1998 – P3 Remix with Pierre J

Another year when the show P3 Mix on Swedish National Radio is transformed into “P3 Remix with Pierre J” during the summer. I’ve spent a lot of time to mash all this up with a selection that goes from the most commercial music to some odd tunes.

Archive 1997 – Absolute Dance Classics Mix(es)

Here is a collection of the most popular songs from the 90’s. I wanted to create a mix, as long as possible, to be able to include as many songs as possible in this mix. But to do a mix of 20 minutes would exclude radio-play. Therefor, I created a 20 minutes mix that could also be played as 3 separate mixes. Hence the title “Mix(es)”. This is probably one the mixes that got most played all over, and can still be heard from time to time on dance floors all over Sweden.

Archive 1997 – Power Hot DJ Mixes

We continue the journey with mixes for brand new Power 106, that was a local Urban and Dance radio based in Stockholm. They wanted 2 mixes of 1 hour each with house music, every month on their show ”Power Hot DJ Mixes”. Other known DJs that I shared this show with was Rob’n’Raz, Micke Dodd, Emil Hellman, Jonas Wikström, Jonas Lönnå och Sleepy, all with their special genres. I did 28 shows during one year and here you’ll find some selected shows from 1997.

Archive 1997 – Hitmix Spring

A mixtape in 2 parts that gathers all the popular songs at the time from all different genres. The first part goes from r’n’b and hip-hop to house and the second part goes from house to techno, trance and sums it all up with some drum’n’bass. These mixes was later aired on Swedish National Radio P3 when P3 Mix turned into P3 Remix with Pierre J, during the summer of 1997.
